Westobri Kennels was established in 1974 by Jill
O’Brien and the late Terry O’Brien and is now
co owned by Jill and her son, Liam. We are situated in Gawler
in South Australia.
The primary focus of the kennel has been the promotion of
the pedigree dog within the framework of the code of ethics
of the canine controlling body and the respective breed clubs.
Both Terry and Jill grew up with pedigree dogs. Jill's family
exhibited a german shepherd and west highland white terriers.
Terry’s family had miniature longaired dachshunds.
Terry and Jill commenced showing dogs in the late 1960’s and
together in 1974, they established Westobri Kennels
They showed and worked their gundogs in the Northern Territory and were
foundation members of the Palmerston Gundog Club.
Also at that time they began a life long love of their beloved Rottweilers
showing them and being involved in obedience.
They moved to Adelaide in South Australia in 1979 bringing their kennel
with them.
Terry became a licensed Retrieving Trial Judge. He also became president
of the Rottweiler Club of South Australia.
Jill's interests over the years have been mainly in the conformation
ring and with the breeding aspects of the kennel although when time
permitted she has enjoyed participating in retrieving trials, obedience
and tracking.
Liam has been involved with Westobri rottweilers all of his life having been born into a household where rottweilers are a part of everyday life.
He is involved in conformation at Specialty and All Breeds and takes responsibility for training and fitness of the dogs at Westobri
